Taking the time to prepare your quilt helps ensure the best possible results.

-
Backing size: Please allow at least 4" extra on all sides
-
Preparation: Quilt top and backing should be pressed and free of loose threads
-
Design: You may choose a design, or I’m happy to select one for you

Batting
Using high-quality batting ensures beautiful stitch definition and long-lasting results.
I offer high-quality Quilter’s Dream Batting in the following options:
-
80/20 Cotton/Poly Blend
-
100% Cotton
-
100% Polyester
-
Wool (limited availability—please inquire)
Batting is a separate charge and is not included in the square inch quilting price.
How Batting is Calculated
Batting is cut specifically for your quilt and priced by the linear inch from queen-size rolls.
I calculate the amount needed based on:
Your quilt’s smallest side + 4 inches (to allow proper loading on the frame)
You are only charged for the amount used—no waste.
Example
For a 60" × 80" quilt:
60" + 4" = 64 inches of batting
Pricing:
-
100% Cotton (Deluxe Loft): $0.40/in → $25.60
-
80/20 Cotton/Poly Blend: $0.33/in → $21.12
-
100% Polyester: $0.26/in → $16.64

QUILT PREPARATION
WHAT SIZE SHOULD MY BACKING BE?
Here's an easy way to remember: Four-for-four! I require the backing to be 4" extra ON ALL SIDES. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 68" x 88". It can be bigger, not smaller. Extra fees may apply if I need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions, please ask.
I want to give you results you will love!
TIDY IT UP!
Please press your top and backing so that it's tidy and ready for me to load. Please also clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, please don't skip this important step! Upon request, I can narrow serge the edges of your quilt to keep seams from splitting. This also make the binding process quicker!
QUILTING DESIGN
I want this process to be fun for you and not overwhelming.
You can:
-
Choose your own design from the Available Designs Page
-
Let me choose for you—I’m always happy to select something that complements your quilt beautifully
Sometimes, “done” really is best!
